Work Samples

Here are some samples of work I have completed for various clients including the Town of Collingwood. Along with providing a daily online news service for the Town of Collingwood web site for many years, I have been a part of many projects including working with Economic Development, Whiskeylicious, Elvis Festival, the Enterprise Centre, Downtown BIA, Heritage Collingwood, Doors Open Collingwood and Collingwood Trails.

For many years I designed and maintained the Collingwood Downtown Business Improvement web site. Over time the site took on many new looks to keep pace with the many special events that were presented in the downtown district. I created the graphics, took the photographs, produced the audio and video features and wrote all news articles in house. I also wrote, produced and often voiced all BIA radio commercials to support the various events throughout the year.

I built and maintained the first Collingwood Trails web sites. I created all graphics, took all photographs, created all flash slideshows and audio files in house.

I created a video feature for placement on the Town of Collingwood web site entitled “From the Mayor’s Chair.” Various video interviews were conducted from the Mayor’s office or from locations around Collingwood. I created the “mini-site” to be placed on the town site. I produced all graphics, took all photographs and voiced and produced all video material in house.

I provided news writing – video reporting services to the Town of Collingwood for use on the Town’s website and other promotional vehicles. I was on hand for the much anticipated grand opening of the Collingwood Aquatic Centre.

For many years I created and maintained the Doors Open Collingwood web site. This was a very popular event and I was thrilled to be a part of celebrating Collingwood’s rich history. I built the site, created all graphics, took all photographs, created the slideshows and voiced/produced all audio elements including radio commercials to support the event.

For many years I provided the Town of Collingwood with a News Update mini-web site. This site was displayed as a part of the Town of Collingwood’s collingwood.ca web site. I updated the contents throughout each week, writing news stories, taking photographs around town, voicing and producing audio reports and video features.

For many years I produced print newsletters, print advertising layouts for Toronto newspaper and magazine publications, radio commercials and the Town of Collingwood Economic Development web site. I worked closely with Catherine Durrant, Economic Development Officer, to produce a series of promotional print, radio and web material.

For three years, I was a member of the Collingwood Elvis Festival Committee. I designed and maintained the Elvis Festival web site, providing content on a regular basis before and during the event. I worked with local and Toronto radio stations to create on-air promotions to tie in with the advertising campaign we were running. I wrote and produced all radio commercials, one television commercial and video promos for web site and online advertising. All work was created in house.

Explore Collingwood was an online web site, created in flash, giving the visitor an interactive presentation of Collingwood attractions.  The site was created to go along with a Toronto print advertising campaign by the Town and the Georgian Triangle Tourist Association to promote Collingwood tourism.  I wrote the text, took all of the photographs and created the flash interactive online slideshows.

A few years ago I was asked to develop a web site for Heritage Collingwood.  The purpose of the site was to display inventory with text descriptions.  I created the site, took all photographs and created all videos, graphics and design elements.  It has been a popular site and a most enjoyable project to be a part of.  In fact, I have developed many versions of the Heritage Collingwood web site over the years including the present version. My family has played a part of Collingwood life for generations. In fact, I live in a home constructed in 1862. Preserving our heritage is important to me.

I developed the first web site to help launch the new South Georgian Bay – Collingwood Enterprise Centre. I created the Enterprise Centre logo, along with the SPARC logo, created all graphics, all photography and produced audio segments for both web and radio.

I developed the original web sites for Collingwood Whiskeylicious. The sites contained multiple video features from participating cafes and restaurants. I created all graphic material (except the supplied Whiskeylicious logo) and voiced/produced all video feature reports. In addition, I wrote and produced the radio campaign.

FROM THE ARCHIVES: Construction is nearing completion of the latest cluster of waterfront town homes in the Shipyards development in Collingwood. Let’s look back at a special day in the town when officials from FRAM, the Town of Collingwood, and residents, all gathered together to celebrate the official opening of the Promenade at Side Launch, marking the first time in over 100 years public access to the waterfront at the foot of Collingwood’s main street was possible.

Here is an example of a talkingsouthgeorgianbay.ca news update

My latest project is the parent of this web page, talkingsouthgeorgianbay.ca. Radio stations have cut staff and abandoned the responsibility of reporting of local news. Newspapers have either closed or cut back content. I created this web site to provide a weekly overview of current news and events in Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Clearview Township and The Blue Mountains.

The Toronto Brigantines Team of tall ships, Playfair and Pathfinder returned to the Port of Collingwood on Wednesday, August 8th. Toronto Brigantine Inc. is excited about working with our Town to partner in marketing and elevating the harbour profile.

One of Collingwood’s most popular street events was the Peak To Shore Music Festival. I was hired to put together a video news report for the Town of Collingwood for use on its website and on the Downtown Collingwood BIA website.
