Wednesday August 12, 2026: When you grow up in Collingwood you learn quickly to keep an eye on the sky when the day heats up and the the humidity hits! Shortly after noon on Wednesday afternoon just as the music was about to start at the Downtown Collingwood Live Local Lunch, the sky turned dark followed by heavy rain, thunder and lightning turning what was a pleasant summer day into a heavy summer storm. While the northern portion of Collingwood received heavy rain, residents in the southern end of town experienced heavy rain and hail. In the Robinson Street/Sproule Avenue areas, heavy winds brought down trees and branches. A second storm hit Collingwood later in the afternoon but no damage was reported.
